Without A Clue

Published by rancosto under comedy Edit This

Does anyone else love Without A Clue with Michael Caine and Ben Kingsley? It’s a fun comedy based on the Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson stories. Michael Caine plays an actor, Reginald Kinkade, hired by Watson to play Sherlock Holmes. Holmes is a fictional character invented by Watson, but the public believes he is real, and the demand for the famous detective is so great that Watson is forced keep a hired actor – and put up with his constant blunders. When Watson has enough, he kicks Kinkade out, but it turns out that neither his publisher nor the public are ready for Watson, the Crime Doctor. They want Sherlock Holmes.

Both actors are excellent, Michael Caine is hilarious as Kinkade when he is trying to keep the insightful Sherlock Holmes appearance while in reality he has no clue. Ben Kingsley’s Watson is perfect as well, bright, intelligent, and rightly upset about all the credit going to Kinkade. Inspector Lestrade and Professor Moriarty are there as well, of course.
